Capture and View screenshot on macOS remotely
First, wake up the desktop with caffeinate
.
caffeinate -u -t 2 # assert that the user is active
Then switch to the application you want to have focus on the desktop with open
open -a Google\ Chrome
Then call MacOS's screencapture
command.
sudo screencapture /Users/dev/Desktop/FullScreen.png
Finally, if you are daring, using iTerm2, have downloaded imgcat from the iTerm imgcat site, have chmod +x
that file, and have copied that file to /usr/local/bin
, then view the captured image in your terminal with imgcat
.
imgcat /Users/dev/Desktop/FullScreen.png
